I was a little shocked to come across a reference to Alexis Bledel. Ok, well, maybe not so much on reflection. Many fans, it seems, think that Alexis Bledel would have made a perfect Bella Swan in the series. Perhaps more so than Kristen Stewart, who landed the role in the movie (and it’s several sequels).
Given her pure sweet innocence in Tuck Everlasting, yet her sarcastic wit and huge heart in Gilmore Girls, I think Alexis Bledel could have made a fantastic Bella. Perhaps one more convincing than Kristen Stewart, in terms of acting out the many sides to the character. Bella is young and inexperienced in so much, but has such quirky traits to her, with that naive innocence paired with stubbornness and her ability to see over all and to love without reserve.
What’s done is done, and Kristin Stewart is and will always be Bella. But perhaps Alexis would be too old for the role anyway, given that it will run for at least 3 (maybe up to 5) movies and that Bledel is 5 years older than Pattinson. And I’d definitely keep Pattinson, no question about that!

cannot vote - have not seen any movie, yet nor read the books abt Twilight - cause there are movies i definitely would love to watch with my bf - and since i don't have one - i will buy it on DVD later and watch it all alone

Ok first let me say that I think that Kristen is great as Bella. But I think that if I had of never known Kristen was going to be Bella I would have been very happy with Alexis playing the part. I don't think the age difference matters much because she had such a baby face. She would have been an excellent Bella if the Bella in book was the exact Bella in the movie. I think that both Robert and Kristen veered from the book in how they portrayed their characters making both characters a little darker. Kristen was the perfect match for Robert in the movie. I don't think he ad Alexis would have had as much chemistry.

3Nope, definitely not....I like Alexis, but Kristen is EXACTLY how I visualized Bella as I was reading the series.
4yeah , i agree with Dona and emalove. i love Kristen as Bella ,and she has an amazing chemistry with Rob , i can't see anyone else doing a good job portraying Bella as Kristen did.
5i agree with lala788, Kristen played a great Bella and there wouldn't be so much chemistry with Rob if it were someone else.
6I think Alexis would be perfect as Bella.
